Penguin Ecology & Conservation Competition

Held in Puerto Madryn, in the heart of Patagonia. December 2026

The Prize Includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from Rio de Janeiro to Puerto Madryn
  • Ground transportation during the program in Patagonia
  • Accommodation for the full course period
  • Full enrollment in the Penguin Ecology and Conservation course
  • Financial investment for the execution of the winning project

What's Not Included:

  • Lunch and dinner
  • Personal expenses, visas, travel insurance, or additional costs

Competition Rules & Guidelines

1. Eligibility
 
  • Open to individual applicants only
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older
  • Open to participants worldwide
 
2. Project Focus
 
Projects must address plastic pollution in marine and oceanic environments, with clear pathways for implementation.
 
Eligible approaches include:
 
  • Applied scientific research
  • Technological or engineering solutions
  • Waste management and circular economy models
  • Community-driven or educational programs
  • Policy-oriented or economic mechanisms
 
3. Key Requirement: Feasibility
 
Given that the winner will receive investment funding, technical and financial feasibility is essential. Projects must demonstrate:
 
  • Technical viability
  • Realistic budget and cost structure
  • Clear implementation plan
  • Measurable environmental impact
  • Potential for scaling or replication
 
4. Submission Requirements
 
All proposals must be submitted in English and include:
 
  • Project title
  • Problem definition
  • Proposed solution
  • Technical methodology
  • Budget overview and funding needs
  • Implementation timeline
  • Expected environmental impact
  • Risk assessment
  • Optional supporting materials (images, short videos, diagrams)
 
5. Evaluation Criteria
 
Projects will be assessed based on:
 
  • Environmental impact potential
  • Technical feasibility
  • Financial viability
  • Innovation and originality
  • Clarity and quality of presentation
 
6. Selection Process
 
  1. Proposals will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary expert panel
  2. One individual winner will be selected
  3. Jury decisions are final and non-appealable
 
7. Award Conditions
 
  • The prize is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash
  • Course participation is scheduled for December 2026
  • Travel dates align with the official course calendar
  • The winner is responsible for documentation and insurance
 
8. Use of Submitted Content
 
By entering, participants authorize the use of submitted materials for educational, institutional, and promotional purposes, with proper attribution.
